Hand-Painted Annual Cicada Earrings
These earrings are to scream for!
Annual cicadas, such as the dog-day cicada, have a 2-5-year staggered lifecycle so you'll see (more likely HEAR) some of them every year, as opposed to periodical cicadas, who ALL cycle at the same time and molt into adults every 13 or 17 years (as Brood X did in 2021). Luckily, these earrings can be worn year-round, no matter the year or season.
Each dangly earring is hand-drawn, painted, glittered, and glossed for a personal touch before hitting the toaster oven for that magical shrinking moment. I only make one pair at a time, and then will re-stock once that pair is sold. These measure approximately 0.75 in x 1.25 in.
Made from shrink plastic, these friendly creatures are water resistant (though not completely waterproof) and ear wires are stainless steel (so shouldn't make your ears turn green! If you'd like that kind of product, you'll have to let me know!)
